Top 10 Criterion Covers

I have always liked the DVD cover art for the Criterion Collection. I picked about 30 covers that really struck me out of the 400+ that they have issued. Then I pared it down to these 10, based solely on the cover design (I haven’t seen most of them). When you click on the numbers it’ll take you to a page where you can expand a larger view of the covers.

10. Honeymoon Killers

9. La Commare Secca

8. Koko: A Talking Gorilla

7. Eyes Without a Face

6. La Connectionneuse

5. Bob le Flambeur

4. Charade

3. The Man Who Fell to Earth

2. Pierrot le Fou

1. Jules and Jim

One Response

  1. I gotta say, those are some swell covers. #2, 5, 6, and 10 are my favorites of that group (probably in that order, really).

Have you seen the Army of Shadows cover? That would DEFINITELY be in my top 10. As would Andrei Rublev. Other than those 2, I only have one knowledge base though, and that’s…

I still have a warm fuzzy for the Royal Tenenbaums cover. And that font on The Life Aquatic. I really like W. Anderson’s brother’s drawings. I guess that’s what it comes down to.
